Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a popular cosmetic method of intradermal injection of multicomponent cocktails to solve a variety of aesthetic problems. Mesotherapy treatments provide an opportunity to quickly and harmlessly get rid of dark circles under the eyes, expression lines and static wrinkles, skin ptosis and stretch marks. Like other injection preparations, meso cocktails provide a distinct cosmetic effect by activating the body's own resources.
Mesotherapy cocktails, injection mesotherapy, needle mesotherapy in ampoules - all these terms came to cosmetology from medicine. In 1952, Michel Pistor discovered mesotherapy and formulated 3 basic principles:
- Not much. Vials in injectable mesotherapy, ampoules in micro-needle mesotherapy contain a small amount of meso cocktail. Each injection of the preparation is no more than 0.2 ml of the solution, but many injections can be made in a session.
- Not often. A course of mesotherapy is several sessions of injections at intervals of 3-6 months.
- In the right place. Meso cocktails, mesotherapy solution or serum, preparations for micro-needling mesotherapy are injected to a certain depth of 1.5 to 6 mm into the problem area.
What is mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is the injection of biologically active cocktails into the middle and superficial layers for rejuvenation and elimination of aesthetic problems. Special preparations for mesotherapy are called meso cocktails. They can be injected both with needle injections and with needle devices (dermapen, mezoroller, devices for fractional mesotherapy).
The effect of mesotherapy is achieved by:
- physical impact of the needle on the skin (leads to regeneration processes),
- deep injection of active components of cosmetics for micro-needling mesotherapy or meso cocktail for injections.
Composition of mesotherapy cocktails
Unique formulas for injection mesotherapy products are developed by specialists in the field of aesthetic medicine, dermatologists and plastic surgeons.

What do vials and ampoules for microneedle mesotherapy contain?
Each injection bottle or ampoule for microneedle mesotherapy contains a cocktail of active ingredients that can both rejuvenate and reduce wrinkles and eliminate problems such as acne, post-acne scars, couperose, pigmentation, eyelid hernias, cellulite, alopecia. The difference between microneedling and conventional mesotherapy lies in the way the preparation is injected inside the dermis - using an apparatus or a needle (cannula).
Mesotherapy has a number of advantages, it is:
- effective,
- non-traumatic,
- practically does not have a rehabilitation period,
- it has a wide range of indications,
- it can be done either by deep injection of the cocktail with a needle, or by microneedling - not deep injection of the contents of a mesotherapy ampoule with micro-needles.
Indications for mesotherapy:
- dull, aging skin;
- problematic skin;
- dull color;
- pigmentation;
- dark circles under the eyes and swelling of the lower eyelids;
- couperose;
- scars;
- fat deposits and cellulite;
- seborrheic dermatitis;
- alopecia;
- rehabilitation after plastic surgery.
The difference between mesotherapy and biorevitalization
The active component of biorevitalizing gels is always hyaluronic acid, which in some cases can be enriched with 1-2 components - most often mannitol or glycerol. The key task of biorevitalization is to moisturize and biostimulate the dermal tissues. The procedure in most cases is aimed at improving the overall condition of the face, decollete, neck and hands. In some cases, injections can be done in areas with flabby skin - on the abdomen, thighs or upper arms.
Meso cocktails have a more diverse composition, their formula can include more than 70 components. Compared to biorevitalization, mesotherapy is aimed at solving narrower problems, for example:
- whitening of pigment spots and smoothing of the skin tone;
- elimination of dark circles under the eyes and bags;
- lifting of skin tissues;
- smoothing of expression wrinkles;
- fight against stretch marks and "orange peel";
- elimination of scars and post acne scars;
- activation of hair growth and improvement of its structure.
Injections can be performed on individual areas (such as the periorbital area) or all over the face, as well as in various areas on the body, on the scalp.
What kinds of ampoules are there for mesotherapy?
There are three types of meso cocktail available on the beauty market today:
- mono preparations with 1 active ingredient;
- cocktails for mesotherapy, which are prepared immediately before the session;
- ready-made mesotherapy cocktails and mesotherapy cocktails with micro needles by major brands (Dermaheal meso cocktails, Filorga meso cocktails, Mastelli meso cocktails, Meso meso cocktails, Prostrolane meso cocktails, RRS meso cocktails).
What kind of ampoules are there for needle mesotherapy?
They can be rejuvenating or therapeutic. The rejuvenating effect is similar to biorevitalization, but lasts longer. A therapeutic cocktail or serum for micro-needling mesotherapy may contain antibiotic, peptides, and acids with a therapeutic effect.
Who is mesotherapy suitable for?
Injection procedures are recommended for women and men at least 18 years old. The indications for the mesotherapy method are individual and are determined by the manufacturer of the specific product. Some products are recommended for dull complexion and loose skin, others for post-acne, others for hair loss, etc.
What is the best preparation for mesotherapy?
It is impossible to answer this question unambiguously. To do this, a competent cosmetologist needs to assess the problem and choose a meso cocktail based on many factors: brand reputation, composition, price, ability to buy quickly and availability in cities such as Warsaw, Poznan, Krakow.
Procedure features
Unlike biorevitalizants, which are injected at a superficial level, meso cocktails can be injected at different depths. The techniques used for the procedures are:
- nappage;
- papular;
- bolus;
- fan.
In addition to needles and cannulas for mesotherapy in aesthetic clinics and beauty salons dermapen and mesoroller are used.
The approximate number of mesotherapy treatments and the interval between them is indicated by the manufacturer in the instructions. The exact schedule of the sessions is prescribed by the cosmetologist, based on the current condition of the patient's skin or hair.
Usually meso cocktails do not contain lidocaine, so specialists should separately provide anesthesia before the procedure.
