The resorbable intradermal bioimplant for the lips is a monophasic transparent sterile gel containing:

• stabilized hyaluronic acid at a concentration of 25.5 mg/ml;
• phosphate buffer with a pH of 7.0
• lidocaine - 3 mg/ml.

While the usual process of manufacturing hyaluronic fillers consists of 3 steps, Belotero ® brand products are produced in 5 steps, which include two additional stages of crosslinking polysaccharide chains. The technology for creating fillers is called Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CPM). The use of a unique method allows for an injectable product that is easily injected and evenly distributed in the skin, does not migrate, is highly resistant to gravity and active facial expressions, provides a natural result and is invisible under the skin. 

Due to the high quality of purification from the breakdown products of the stabilizing agent BDDE, the gel is well accepted by the skin tissue, without causing allergic reactions. Side effects are minimal. Slight swelling, redness, itching and minor pain go away without medication in 2-3 days.

Belotero Lips Shape Lidocaine ® can be purchased in ready-to-use 0.6 ml syringes. The kit includes 2 27G ½ needles.

Intradermal filler is used exclusively for injections in the perioral area. The goals of the procedure are:

• lip augmentation;
• correction of mouth asymmetry;
• harmonization of the proportions of the upper and lower lip;
• formation of a beautiful curve of the lips;
• smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth;
• raising the corners of the mouth.

Contour plastics with Belotero Lips Shape Gel ® is suitable for women and men of young and mature age, but is not recommended for teenagers under 18 years old. 

To create the effect of lush lips, a special LipLush technique is used, which involves a combination of Contour and Shape fillers.
 

Procedure protocol

Only cosmetologists who have been trained to work with fillers and have received certification confirming their qualifications are allowed to give injections. The session is conducted after prior consultation and exclusion of contraindications to contour plastics. The preparation is opened in the presence of the patient. Before injections, the skin is thoroughly cleaned and treated with antiseptic. The techniques used to inject the gel are:

• linear-retrograde;
• bolus;
• fan.

Most often these methods are combined. The procedure lasts 30-40 minutes.

Result of application

The effect of lip augmentation appears immediately after the procedure and becomes clearly visible after the side effects have passed. The result achieved persists steadily for up to 6-12 months. According to research conducted by Merz, 87% of respondents were completely satisfied with the results of injections of Belotero Lips ® 2 weeks after the session, and 66.7% after 4 months.

For maximum preservation of the result and to prevent inflammation, you should not use lipstick on the day of the procedure. For a few days, you should refrain from frequent touching the injection sites, drinking alcohol, salty, spicy and solid food. For two weeks, patients should refrain from visiting a sauna, minimize physical activity, and protect the injected areas from the sun.
 

Contraindications

Contour plastics of the lips and perioral area is prohibited under:

• herpes and other skin infections;
• colds;
• taking anticoagulants;
• pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Absolute contraindications to intradermal injections are epilepsy, cancer, diabetes and autoimmune disorders.
 

Storage and transport 

The subcutaneous implant should be stored in a light-protected place at +2C +25C. Do not damage the packaging, do not freeze, avoid sunlight and high temperatures.
