Belotero Balance Lidocaine filler by Merz Aesthetic, a global company headquartered in Austria, entered the market in 2009. The filler managed to gain popularity as an effective corrector of age-related changes and a subcutaneous filler for harmonizing facial features. It is also the only European product created for the so-called "blanching" - superficial injection into wrinkles - of facial tissues, neck and décolleté area. 

The preparation is a sterile transparent apyrogenic gel based on modified synthetic hyaluronic acid with a concentration of 22.5 mg/ml. Two-step cross-linking of Belotero Balance Lidocaine polymer by the method of Cohesive Polydensified Matrix (CMP) gives it a special elastic structure, which is optimal for filling any voids and irregularities under the skin: both static and dynamic. The filler additionally contains a phosphate buffer (pH 7), which minimizes tissue swelling after injections, and a 0.3% lidocaine aqueous solution, which eliminates any discomfort during the procedure. 

The homogeneous, medium density structure of the gel is designed for the correction of defects on the face and body with a medium degree of expression. The high content of hyaluronic acid provides effective hydration of the cells and skin nutrition, resulting in an improved overall condition of the skin. Due to the content of molecules of the same shape, the gel is evenly distributed in all cavities and deformities and has a noticeable lifting effect. Compared with biphasic gels, Balance Lidocaine lasts slightly less, but the CMP cross-linking of the active substance in Belotero allows you to prolong the effect. 

The optimal age for injecting the drug is from 25 years old and older, when the first signs of aging begin to appear. The effect duration of Belotero Balance Lidocaine is up to 1 year, it depends on the individual characteristics of the body. The gel has a monophasic structure that is more evenly distributed in the tissues and eliminates the development of allergic reactions or migration under the skin. At the end of the period of action the preparation is eliminated from the body naturally - through the excretory system.

Area of application Belotero Balance Lidocaine

Belotero Balance Lidocaine is injected into the superficial and middle layers of the dermis to correct aesthetic or age-related skin changes:

• creases, folds and irregularities associated with age (tissue thinning, " crow's feet " on the outer part of the eyelid, " marionette wrinkles ") and trauma (scars);
• "laugh lines" and nasolabial folds;
• mimic wrinkles and "smoker's wrinkles" in the perioral area;
• irregularities in the bridge of the nose;
• frown lines;
• thinning of the upper and lower lip, disorders of shape and color;
• oral comissure correction;
• neck wrinkles;
• wrinkles in the decollete area and on the back of the hands.

Procedure protocol

Belotero Balance Lidocaine is designed to be injected into healthy skin without inflammation or open wounds. The procedure is performed only by a specialist with sufficient skills to work with injectable preparations. The gel is injected after thorough removal of make-up and sterile treatment. The filler already contains lidocaine in its composition, which significantly reduces pain and other discomfort. 

The specialist injects the gel into the upper and middle layers of the dermis, depending on the correction objectives. Point, cross-over and fan techniques are most commonly used, as well as correction in the blanching technique to eliminate wrinkles in delicate areas with thin skin. 

To add volume and eliminate deeper wrinkles, the tunnel technique can be used. After the injections are done, the specialist applies a soothing cream and gently massages the treated area to allow the Belotero Balance Lidocaine to fill all the voids in the skin tissue.

Result of the procedure

The first changes will be noticed immediately after the injection of Belotero Balance Lidocaine, but it is better to evaluate the effectiveness of the procedure in 5-7 days, when the redness and swelling of the tissues subsides. During these days, you should strictly follow the doctor's recommendations - do not get too cold and not overheated, refrain from alcohol, coagulants, heavy exercise, use makeup and heavy creams, exclude visits to the solarium, swimming pool and sauna. Contraindications

There are a number of restrictions on the use of the filler: 

• pregnancy and lactation;
• intolerance to hyaluronic acid and other ingredients of the gel;
• patients under 18 years of age;
• autoimmune and systemic diseases;
• lesions and inflammations of the skin;
• general malaise and exacerbation of chronic diseases;
• susceptibility to tissue hypertrophy and formation of colloidal scars;
• risk of bleeding;
• less than two weeks after peeling, dermabrasion and laser procedures.
   

Rules of transportation and storage

Belotero Balance Lidocaine can be stored in a dark place at 2-25°C, without direct sunlight. The filler must not be frozen or used if the package is damaged.
